Anyone know what happened to the series The Land by Aleron Kong?
Main Post:
The series was such a good not counting his last book Monsters which was just a money grab. But the series was great and has been quit for a couple years now. Any info??
Top Comment: Basically no updates for a few months. His fb group used to say a bit more but even that's gone quiet. Prevalent theory is the terrible reception of the last book, coupled with his other projects knocked his confidence/motivation and its on the back burner now.

Read or skip ( the Land )
Main Post:
Thinking of starting the land but read so many places saying it will have flaws So should I read or skip ?
Top Comment:
The series itself isn't terrible. It's got good and bad points, the same as any other series out there that isn't finished.
The author is.... problematic.
He's made some comments in the past and done some things that have left a bad taste in the mouth of many who love the genre.
I personally enjoy the series, and hope that it will continue, even though the last book has been.....delayed....
Am I the only one who thinks the Land series is garbage?
Main Post:
I just don't understand the glowing reviews it gets here and on Amazon. The characters are flat, the humor is juvenile, and tons of unresolved plot lines.
Don't get me wrong, I love a tropey litRPG almost as much as a good one, but I just can't understand how this one is so successful when there are so many better ones out there.
Not to mention Kong's questionable attempt at trademarking litRPG for himself, but that's not my main complaint.
Top Comment: I do love me some Kong hate threads. Books introduced me to the genre but the pure hubris my dude displayed in trying to coin the term âLitRPGâ made me seriously not like the guy. Iâll always have a certain soft spot for the series but meh.
What the heck happened with "The Land" series?
Main Post:
I'm currently re-listening to "The Land" series by A. Kong, and it still pains me that the series is left unfinished after the abysmal book 8. Such a great story just gone to waste.
Top Comment: You could say it turned to... Shit.
I hate The Land.
Main Post:
I absolutely hate The Land. I read He who Fights Monsters and Dungeon Crawler Carl and loved those LITRPG books.
Iâm on the Book of Monsters and canât wait for this series to end. The fact that the author's includes characters from Parks and Recreation and thinks I'm an idiot by how obvious he makes it is so dumb. Lil Sebastian? Seriously?
His inclusion of pop culture is so poorly done. I get it. You like He Man. I love parks and rec, but what the hell?
I think this author is terrible at building characters; the time in this series has moved so slowly. Im 4-5books in and I think its been 6 months. He keeps introducing new quests and objectives and never returns and finishes any of them. In one of the first books, they said he had to defeat the bugbears, and they havenât even talked about the bugbears since. When are you gonna get back to that?
The main character is immature, selfish and sexist. He never skips an opportunity to comment on a womans appearance in a sexual way or treat women as irrational.
Iâm supposed to expect that heâs his great ruler and leader? I have been listening to the audiobooks and am actively rooting against the main character to keep this even somewhat interesting; I would not recommend the land to anybody.
Maybe you have a different take, but this is mine.
Howâs this author the godfather of Litrpg?
Top Comment: Why continue with a series that you clearly dislike? Just drop the series and go on to something else
The Land Book 9, narrowing down more of a release date. (Date of book releasing before book 9 is said.)
Main Post:
Ive been rereading The Land and searching far and wide for info on book 9's release date. I know many have given up, I am nearing that point. The only saving grace I have is that we know (allegedly) that Aleron is releasing his first book in his 3rd series next, and after that it should be book 9 of The Land.
Until recently, we haven't had any dates. Combing through his Facebook group, (yuck), June 25th is the release date for his 3rd series. So after that, at some point, is book 9. I know that's not a lot of new info, but at lease we have some date ideas.
Top Comment: Not to pile it on even worse, but he had first draft of his new series done in January-2023, meaning his lead times from first draft to published is ~18 months. The last we heard was that book 9 was only halfway through its first draft. So my guess is 2026.
The Land Series by Aleron Kong book 8⊠itâs so bad
Main Post:
This whole dang book itâs a dull over detailed book about crafting. Itâs almost unreadable. I enjoyed the other books. But dang. Nothing happens but going through crafting points.
Top Comment: Started in the cave, ended in the same damn cave with almost no progress. I would still buy book nine though đ if only it existed. I bought God's Eye just for a taste of something more, but it was unreadable. I'm so upset.
Is there ever going to be a new installation of the land series
Main Post:
Its been almost five years since the last book came out, me and my dad have both pretty much completely lost faith in the series. Thoughts?
Top Comment: The Author, Aleron Kong, claims he is still working on the series but he's been saying that for the last five years. The only things writing wise in that time that have been released were two new series, God's Eye and the most recent release called Alpha. Personally while I think he does intend to continue The Land, I don't think he's going to be able to do it. A five year gap has likely taken his desire for the series away and there were so many loose ends that he's in a GRR Martin situation where he's got no idea how to bring it all together.
